The command to create a new maven project

mvn archetype:generate -DgroupId=com.celestial -DartifactId=jaxrs_bos-example -DarchetypeArtifactId=maven-archetype-quickstart -DinteractiveMode=false

Where -DartifactId=jaxrs_bos-example is the project name, maven creates a folder with this name. Replace jaxrs_bos-example with your project's name.

Where -DgroupId=com.celestial is your organisation's domain. Replace com.celestial with your organisation's domain.

Linking maven projects together - using maven modules

mvn install - will build a project, package it up according to the <packaging> element in the pom.xml and copy it into the <host user's folder>/.m2/repository/<sub folder> which is the local maven repo.

Important

I've developed a multi-project application in Netbeans, deploying the services on a tomcat webserver. I'm not sure if it's tomcat or netbeans, but when something goes wrong (as it will do whilst in dev mode), maven has trouble deleting the lib folder (under <maven project root>/target/<build-name>/WEB-INF/) when a maven clean is invoked (it cannot remove the jersey*.jar files). Having tried multiple approaches, the only one that seem to work was shutting netbeans down, which shutdown tomcat. The lib folder could then be deleted.

At the moment this isn't working as we want. The client application builds, but when it runs the dependants are not found. Tried using the Apache shade plugin and that still didn't work.
