1. Creating an EC2 Instance

Once you are logged in you will see your management console

Select “All Services”

Under the “Compute” section, select “EC2”

Your console will show two running instances. We are going to terminate these instances. Select “Instances(running)”

Terminate running instances

Select the two instances, then select “Instance State” / Terminate Instance

Select Terminate from the “Instance State” menu

On the modal dialog select Terminate

 

Wait for the instances to show a terminated state. Use the refresh Icon to check their state.

Launching a new instance

Select the Launch Instance link. On the next window scroll down till you find this option below

On the right click Select.

 

On the next window select the option shown above

On the lower right of the screen select the option shown

 

Change nothing on the next screen shown above

In the lower right hand corner select the option above

 

Change nothing on the next screen shown above

 

In the lower right hand corner select the option shown

 

Select the option shown above

 

Enter the details shown above

 

In the lower right hand corner select the option shown

 

Change nothing on the screen above

 

In the lower right hand corner select the option shown above

 

On this screen in the lower right hand corner select the option “Launch”

 

On this screen dialog, select the down arrow, select the option shown above

Enter a Key pair Name, and select Download Key Pair

It is important that you do not lose the key pair. It contains the password to gt into your instance

Finally, select the option shown to launch your instance

 

Your instance will be in the pending state till it is fully provisioned. Once it is in the Running state, you can connect to it
