A Jira project can have multiple boards

Consider an example where stories are broken down into tasks. We would want to create two boards

  • A story board

  • A Task board, where the action occurs

We can link the Issues between the boards

Things to think about when using multiple boards

Purpose of the board

  • Is it going to represent Epics, Stories, or Tasks

Filters on the board

Jira filters are a powerful tool for ensuring certain issues are displayed on a board

What will be the workflow for the board

  • Workflows allow you to control how issues transit between columns on a board

Steps to work with multiple boards –

  1. Create one board per issue type

  2. Set the filters (queries) for each board

  3. Specify the correct sub-filter per board
