We will not be covering all 13 UML models!  Our main concern are

  • class diagrams
  • use case models
  • sequence diagrams
  • activity diagrams
  • state diagrams
  • component diagrams
  • package diagrams
  • deployment diagrams

Step-by-step guide

  1. We will start describing some basic class model features.  This is needed to facilitate the understanding of the meta-model we will be presenting.  The meta-model will not be presented in a single sitting, instead we will add to it gradually each time we tackle a significant topic.
  2. Describe use cases and scenarios
  3. Describe Activity diagrams, followed by an update to the meta-model
  4. Describe Sequence diagrams, followed by an update to the meta-model
  5. Describe advanced Class diagrams
  6. Describe State diagrams, followed by an update to the meta-model
  7. Describe Component and Deployment diagrams in that order
  8. Describe Package diagrams
