From Physical to Virtual

It’s important to understand that moving from a world of physical infrastructure to virtual infrastructure will not be a one-to-one mapping. Architects must be versed in the options available in the virtual world so that they can advise and implement strategies that emulate and match if not improve on the physical option.

Administrators need to become more familiar with programmable constructs and automation. They need to develop an appreciation of the needs of the applications they are going to support so they can provision the correct components. Application developers need to become more aware of the infrastructure their applications will require so they can best advise administrators of their needs.
